The Danish Villa is a homely five-bedroomed property set amidst an acre of tropical garden on the land side of the tiny Arugam Bay hotel strip and is just a 10 minute walk away from the magnificent beaches of the south-east coast. Arugam Bay is known as one of 10 best surf spots in the world and dedicated surfers return each year to experience the thrilling waves and the relatively secluded beaches. Keen surfers usually make the eight-hour journey on the A4 route directly from Colombo to Arugam Bay, which is tiring but well worth the trip. Since Arugam Bay is easily assessable from other parts of the country including the southern highlands (Badulla, Ella, Haputale), central hills (Kandy), Buttala foothills (Uda Walawe, Yala, Tissa) and the South Coast, it can be easily be included in a tour of Sri Lanka.

Accommodation (room & amenities):

There are five double rooms with attached bathrooms with hot water showers. Some of the rooms have a/c. All have overhead ceiling fans. The rooms are well furnished with double beds fitted with mosquito netting, wardrobe and writing desk.

Facilities/services:

The living room is spacious and has a TV with cable channels and DVD. You can choose to dine indoors or on the terrace that skirts around the villa overlooking the garden. Wake up early and have your coffee on the terrace while watching the birds in the garden and the occasional monkey as they hover on the tree tops. There is a fully equipped kitchen with fridge, cooker, toaster, crockery and cutlery where you can do your own cooking. There is also a cook who can assist in purchasing seafood and market-fresh produce. There are several cafes and guest house restaurants within walking distance where you can dine or which will deliver to you at the villa. Arugam Bay offers activities ranging from surfing to nature treks. Surf boards can be hired from one of the surf shops in town. Surfing lessons can also be organised for beginners if required.

The interiors are furnished with locally-produced furniture and the gardens are restful with plenty of birds that perch on the tall tropical trees and coconut palms. The Danish Villa can comfortably accommodate up to 10 guests and is rented on a BB basis. You can rent the entire villa or per room.
