However, temperatures fall rapidly with altitude. In Kandy the temperature on average is around 20 degrees Celsius and in Nuwara Eliya it is often below 15 degrees Celsius.

Standard 30-day tourist visa fee is USD 20 and pay with a credit or debit card. You can still obtain visa on arrival at the Bandaranaike International Airport with a small penalty of USD 5 more. You can pay in Rupiah, Euros, UK pounds and Australian dollars in addition to US dollars. Tourist from Singapore and Maldives will continue to receive on-arrival visas as those are the only two countries that offer Sri Lankan tourist the same facility.
