Day 1: Colombo – Kandy

Your driver will pick you up from your desired location. From Colombo you’re heading towards Kandy for one night stay. Today’s fascinating excursion takes you, firstly, to the Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage. It’s one of the most visited tourist attractions in Sri Lanka. Get an early start around 6:00 am from Colombo, so you have plenty of time at the Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage.

The next excursion, is the Royal Botanical Gardens in Peradeniya, attractive large grounds with full of various trees, shrubs and plants. We would suggest hiring an electric buggy with driver which help you to see most of the garden.

Later, continue on to Kandy to discover all the interesting places and temples etc. One full day is enough to see all the attractions in Kandy. Just head out early and you’ll get it all!

Day 2: Dambulla – Polonnaruwa

Spend the morning at leisure in your Kandy hotel. Checking out around 12:30 pm, you’ll now be heading to north-east of Sri Lanka. Today’s interesting excursion takes you, first, to the Cave Temples of Dambulla, situated about 72 km north of Kandy. Your driver drops you off at the ticket counter, where the climb starts. There’s 364 steps to the 5 caves that are located at a height of 110 m. Take your time and enjoy your visit to Dambulla cave temples. It only takes less than 01 hour.

After that, continue on to Polonnaruwa. One of the best planned archaeological relic sites in Sri Lanka protected by UNESCO. It’s filled with lots of temples, stupas and other ruins, dating back almost 1000 years. You’ll surely enjoy a peaceful walk hear.

Day 3: Sigiriya – Anuradhapura

This tour itinerary won’t complete without climbing Sigiriya Rock, one of the most visited tourist attractions in Sri Lanka. Sigiriya rock is much easier to climb, If you start as early as 06:30 am. Usually, Sigiriya gets very crowded and the heat tends to make you tired while climbing. Just remember to keep it slow and enjoy the experience. Don’t be in a hurry. Sometimes, it takes more than 45 mins to reach up, as you’ll need to take a few breaks to rest. After all, the fortress on top of Sigirya is very interesting. Reaching down take you just 20 to 30 mins only. First and foremost, Sigiriya is a famous UNESCO listed site of Sri Lanka.

Then, you’re heading off to the last stop on this Sri Lanka tour itinerary. Anuradhapura is a scenic and peaceful town where massive stupas and dagobas jutted out in the distance. The main thing to do in Anuradhapura is tour the huge archaeological ruins and impressive religious sites.

Day 4: Wilpattu – Colombo

Why would you travel all the way to Anuradhapura and skip a jeep safari game drive in to the Wilpattu National Park?

Located an hour drive from Anuradhapura Wilpattu national park is known for less crowded and calmer safari experience in Sri Lanka. If you are planning a jeep safari game drive to Wilpattu National Park you need to mentally prepare yourself for an early wake-up. We would actually recommend to do a half-day safari from 6 am to 10:30 am, especially, when you are short on time.

After, you can head back to Colombo via Colombo – Puttalam Road in just over 4 hours.
