Day 1: Colombo / Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage/Kandy
Your driver-guide will meet you at any location or hotel in Colombo at 06:00am and travel directly to the Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage located about 85 km, 2 hours 30 minutes drive from Colombo city. The centre opens at 8:30 am for visitor, bottle feeding is at 9:15 am and at 10:00 am the elephants are walked to the River Maha Oya for bathing. This experience is simply unique and the best way to explore Sri Lanka elephants, currently being a home to 93 elephants.
Later, transfer to Kandy. City tour of Kandy include visit of the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic and the famous cultural dance show.
Later check-in to your hotel and have a good rest. Dinner and overnight stay in Kandy.
Day 2: Kandy / Peradeniya Botanical Gardens/Dambulla
After leisurely breakfast, visit the Royal Botanical Gardens in Peradeniya. The garden includes more than 4000 species of plants, including orchids, spices, medicinal plants and palm trees.
Later, transfer to Dambulla Cave Temples a UENESCO world heritage site. There are more than 80 documented caves in the surrounding and the paintings are done on the ceiling. There are a total of 153 Buddha statues 3 statues of Sri Lankan kings and 4 statues of god and goddess.
On completion check-in to your hotel and have a good reset. Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel in Dambulla.
Day 3: Sigiriya / Polonnaruwa
After early breakfast at the hotel, climb the famous Sigiriya Rock Fortress. Climb to the top of the rock provides excellent views of the surrounding area and on reaching the summit you can inspect what remains of the old fortress.
Later, sightseeing tour of Polonnaruwa, one of the best planned archaeological relic sites in Sri Lanka. The main attractions include a number of dagobas and other ruins dating back almost 1000 years.
On completion return to the hotel in Dambulla for dinner and overnight.
Day 4: Anuradhapura
After breakfast check-out from the hotel and travel to the Sacred City of Anuradhapura for sightseeing.
Late afternoon, check-in to the hotel in Anuradhapura for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 5: Anuradhapura / Aukana Buddha/Colombo
Breakfast at the hotel and no activities in the morning.
In the afternoon check-out from the hotel and depart to visit Aukana Buddha. A standing statue, which has a height of more than 40 feet (12 m), has been carved out of a large granite rock face during the 5th century.
On completion, you will be driven back to Colombo.
