After breakfast enjoy a game of golf at Royal Colombo Golf Club, one of the oldest golf clubs in the world. The Galle Face Green was the birthplace and nursery of golf in Ceylon. The ground was used for games such as Horse Racing, Cricket, Golf, Rugby, Football, and Hockey. The 130 year old Royal Colombo Golf Club: Golf in Sri Lanka, like many other British sports gained popularity on the Galle Face Green. The Colombo Golf Club was formed here and in 1896 moved to its present location which was a model farm originally owned by Sir Charles Henry de Soysa, a Ceylonese philanthropist. In 1928 the privilege of using the prefix “Royal” was bestowed upon the Club by His Majesty King George V.
In present days this course is 5’770 m long 18-hole par 71 course. The course looks simple at first but it’s many water hazards and well guarded bunkers will quickly change your opinion.
in the afternoon you would go for a sightseeing tour of Colombo. Meander through the commercial and city centre area known as the “Fort”, built by the Portuguese in the 16th century. Tour the bustling markets of Pettah. Visit the National Museum known for its invaluable collection of lovely antiques and art objects. You would also be taken to spots like town hall, Independence square, the B.M.I.C.H (International Convention Centre) and Cinnamon gardens residential region.

After having your breakfast move on to Dambulla, en route visiting the elephant orphanage at Pinnawela, which is a home to about 60 elephants found abandoned or orphaned in the wild. Also, accompany the elephants to a river close by to see them having their daily baths.
Ride to Dambulla will be continued and you will also visit Dambulla Rock Temple. The temple holds a magnificent gallery of Buddha images. Wall and ceiling paintings are not seen anywhere else in the Island. It is a complex of five cave temples with its origin harking back to the Anuradhapura period (1st century BC). However due to refurbishments undertaken by various rulers over the past two thousand years what now remains is mostly work done in the Kandyan period (18th century). Rest of day can be enjoyed by you as you wish.

Have a leisurely breakfast. Now journey to Sigiriya, which owes its glory to the vision of King Kashyapa. The monarch erected this ‘Palace in the Sky’ in the 5th century AD. On the top of the Sigiriya rock (meaning the ‘Lion Rock’) are the remnants of a large palace, which is the earliest surviving royal building in Sri Lanka. The palace has several chambers and a bathing pond. In a pocket of the giant rock are the celebrated paintings of 5th century. The Mirror Wall, which had been exposed to elements for more than fifteen centuries still has some of the original sheen. This archaeological site has been declared a World Heritage Site.
Leave for Polonnaruwa. Watch the charm of mediaeval Sri Lanka at Polonnaruwa. Polonnaruwa served the Sri Lankan kings as a ‘country residence’ from the 7th century. Within the contours of the Royal Citadel are the remnants of the King’s palace, the Council Chamber and the Royal Bath. The Buddha images at the Gal Vihara or the Rock Temple are wonderful examples of stone sculpture. Parakrama Samudra or the Sea of Parakrama is a colossal man made irrigation reservoir.

Have your breakfast and then move on to Kandy. In the afternoon do a city tour of Kandy – the last capital of the Sri Lankan kings. The name Kandy conjures visions of a storied past, splendour, legend, folklore, mystery and traditions lovingly kept alive for countless years. Visit a gem lapidary and in the afternoon visit the temple of the tooth relic and thereafter witness a cultural show.

After breakfast have few games at Victoria Golf Club, Digana. This course is 6’190 m long (par 73) a championship golf course designed by Donald Steel and inaugurated early in 1999. The fairways are rather narrow in a hilly country side. Stately trees and avenues of coconuts lend the course an immediate air maturity. Impressive natural outcrops of rocks are a distinctive feature and indeed a hazard of the course. The Victoria Golf Club is situated 25 km east of Kandy and 150 km from Colombo.

After breakfast leave for Nuwara Eliya via Ramboda Falls (80km – transfer time 3 hours). En route visiting a tea factory/plantation and some beautiful water falls. Nuwara Eliya; this town seems like a piece of English district. Tudor-style and Victorian homes look across the blue lake. These buildings are the other architectural monuments to the English, the Post Office, the English country house like Hill Club with its hunting pictures, mounted hunting trophies and fish, Anglican Church and private residence.

After breakfast have few games. Nuwara Eliya Golf Course; which is reputed to be one of Asia’s finest is 5’520 m (par 71). The fairways are long and narrow and bordered by fir trees and thick bushes. It demands skilful “position play” and the hilly terrain makes it essential that players can cope with up-hill and down-hill lies.
In the evening go on a sightseeing visit to Nuwara-Eliya. In 1819, when the area was ruled by the Britishh, a few Britishers on a hunting expedition spotted the site. They decided to establish a health resort there. Later Sir Samuel Baker remodeled it as a holiday resort with an English ambiance. This speciality lent it the name ‘Little England’. Tour Hakgala Botanical gardens known for exotic trees, shrubs and herbs.

After breakfast move on to the deep- south and take a jeep safari for touring Yala. The park has many rocky outcrops, fresh water tanks, brackish lagoons and breathtaking dry zone landscape. The southeastern boundary of Yala is the coastline with an untouched beach. The northeastern boundary is the manik ganga river. The Yala reserve has large open areas and water holes which serve as feeding grounds for many animals such as elephants, leopards, deer, wild buffaloes, wild boar, many varieties of birds, crocodiles etc. The most prominent geophysical feature of Yala is its many areas of outcropping bedrock, some largeenough to be mini rocky ranges. These provide resting places and breeding grounds to the leopard and the Sri Lankan sloth bear. The sloth bear is very fond of fruits. However never try to feed it yourself.

Following a leisurely breakfast an hour’s drive from Yala to Hikkaduwa for 3 nights rest.
Hikkaduwa is a small town on the south coast of Sri Lanka. It is located in the Southern Province, about 20 km north-west of Galle. Hikkaduwa is famous for its beach and corals. The area also has a reputation for offering a vibrant nightlife. Hikkaduwa is also very popular with board-surfers. It’s a well-known international destination for board-surfing.

Take breakfast. You will be escorted to the hotel where you would board the plane for onward journey. It is a fascinating drive along Sri Lanka’s coastline and several interesting fishing villages where the Stilt fisherman precariously perched on a stick in the shallow of the ocean with a fishing chord in his hand is an interesting sight.
